A currently enrolled undergraduate student who wishes to take a course off-campus should obtain written permission from the Records and Registration office prior to enrolling in the course. Once the student has submitted the Off-Campus Approval Request form with course descriptions from the guest institution, the courses will be evaluated for accreditation, equivalency, and applicability to degree program by appropriate faculty. The form is available via Records and Registration by completing the e-form found on MyHU > Academics Tab > E-Forms. You can also click here to go to the e-form.

Additional information to consider:

  • Transfer credits are limited to 70 credits from a two-year institution and 87 credits from a four-year institution. Students can transfer courses from regionally accredited institutions or other accreditation recognized by the US Department of Education.
  • The student must earn a minimum grade of "C" or better to be awarded academic credit. Grades of P/F, Pass/Fail, or Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory are not eligible for transfer.
  • Only the credits transfer, not the grade earned.
  • Once transfer credit has been posted, it cannot be removed from the record.
