GENERAL FORMAT
What is the Executive Weekend format, and how does it benefit me?
The Executive Weekend format is part of HU's updated graduate program structure, designed to give you greater flexibility, consistent course delivery, and a predictable path to graduation. As part of your executive program, you will complete one in-person Executive Weekend per semester alongside your online and/or hybrid coursework.
Is attendance at the Executive Weekend required?
Yes. Attendance at the Executive Weekend is required. Students are expected to attend all in-person sessions as scheduled. Because Saturday and Sunday are evaluated as separate sessions, attending each day counts individually toward your attendance record.
Where can I find information about Executive Weekend sessions for my course?
Courses using the Executive Weekend format are identified in the course schedule and registration system. Meeting dates, times, and locations are listed in your course information when registration opens each semester. After registering, you can view your full schedule in myHU > Academics > My Schedule.
How many Executive Weekends are scheduled each semester?
One Executive Weekend (covering both Saturday and Sunday) is scheduled per executive format course.
Where are sessions held, and how can I find my schedule?
Sessions are held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. To view your specific dates, times, and classroom locations, check myHU > Academics > My Schedule.
What can I expect during the Executive Weekend?
Expect in-class activities with your instructor and peers, as well as any professional development events scheduled for that weekend. Sessions run Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. It is a focused, collaborative experience designed around your working professional schedule.
Are Executive Weekends shared across programs?
Executive Weekends (Weekend A and Weekend B) are available across programs and are not restricted to a single program cohort.
How early can I access my Executive Weekend dates?
Executive Weekend dates are available in your schedule on myHU Academics at the time of registration. The academic calendar, published one year in advance, also lists these dates. Access the academic calendar on the HU website or through "Current and Upcoming Academic Calendars" in the Quick Links section of your myHU student portal.
ATTENDANCE
How is attendance tracked during Executive Weekends?
Each day is counted as a separate session. Saturday runs from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM (5 instructional hours) and counts as one session; Sunday runs from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM (5 instructional hours) and counts as a second session. Students attend one Executive Weekend (both Saturday and Sunday sessions) per executive format course. Students typically schedule one executive format course per semester.
Do attendance and grading policies remain consistent in the 7-week format?
Yes. Attendance and grading policies remain consistent across all course formats, including the 7-week model.
What should I do if inclement weather prevents me from attending a session?
The university and your course instructor will communicate guidance on weather-related disruptions, makeup sessions, and attendance accommodations as needed. Monitor official university communications for updates.
Does attending one day of the Executive Weekend still count toward my attendance?
Yes. Because Saturday and Sunday sessions are evaluated separately, attending one day counts toward your attendance for that session. If you must miss a day, contact your instructor and the International Student Office (ISO), if applicable.
Who should I contact if a flight delay or family emergency prevents me from attending?
Contact your instructor and the ISO (if applicable) as soon as possible. Attending even one day of the weekend will count toward attendance for that session, since Saturday and Sunday are evaluated separately.
What options are available if I have an extenuating circumstance that prevents me from attending?
If extenuating circumstances physically prevent you from attending, communicate promptly with your instructor, Student Success, and the ISO (if applicable). Please note that weekend "work" engagements are not considered an excused absence.
TRAVEL, LODGING, AND CAMPUS RESOURCES
Am I responsible for arranging my own travel and accommodations?
Yes. Each student is responsible for planning their own travel and lodging. Sessions run Saturday from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM. HU has compiled a list of preferred hotels near campus to help you plan your stay.

What family-friendly resources are available on campus during Executive Weekends?
HU offers a designated lactation room to support nursing parents. If you need to bring a child to campus, please arrange for a family member or friend to accompany them and provide supervision during class sessions.
